Neil Diamond is one of the most successful and beloved singer/songwriters in contemporary pop-rock music history.

Like his idol, Rob Garrett was born in Brooklyn, NY.

In the spring of 1974, his parents moved the family from New York City to the Las Vegas Valley, where, in 1976, he witnessed his first Neil Diamond concert when Diamond debuted in Las Vegas to record crowds at the Aladdin Theater for the Performing Arts (now “PH Live”) in July 1976.

Garrett went on to see him multiple times across the country—right up until Diamond’s final U.S. concert at the LA Forum on August 12, 2017.

In 1980, Garrett formed his own band, “Rock n Roll Heaven,” and enjoyed a successful 15-year run in Las Vegas and across the nation before deciding to move from lead singer of a cover band to a tribute artist dedicated to one of his childhood heroes.

In 1995, Garrett was hand-picked by Paul Revere (of The Raiders) to portray Neil Diamond in the Honolulu production of “Legends in Concert”.

What was meant to be a short engagement turned into a three-year success.

By August 1998, Garrett returned home to Las Vegas and continued to perform with “Legends” for another two years before deciding to launch his own show.

He began a nationwide performance schedule, building a large and loyal following click here along the way—earning the title “King of Diamonds.”

He continues to perform to sold-out venues nationwide, often in venues that typically host major artists.

Garrett has also received multiple accolades, including “Male Tribute Artist of the Year.”

“Since he (Diamond) announced his retirement, I’ve felt a strong sense of responsibility to keep his legacy alive for future generations. It’s something I never get tired of doing,” he said.

On May 19, 2025 officially proclaimed the date “Rob Garrett Day,” commemorating Rob’s 50 years as a Las Vegas resident and 44 years as a professional Vegas performer.

Now in the year 2025, Garrett celebrates 45 years as an active Las Vegas entertainer, with the last three decades devoted solely to paying tribute to the now-retired Neil Diamond.

It has been said that no other tribute artist is so closely identified with the original performer as Garrett, who has played in more Vegas rooms than any peer.

Since the June closing of “A Beautiful Noise” (the Broadway jukebox musical based on Diamond’s life story), Rob Garrett’s “King of Diamonds” show has become the nation’s sole ongoing Neil Diamond tribute show.
